New York Couple Stars in New Reality-Based Romance™ Novel by Best-Selling Romance Author Julie Leto
When Anne Miller and Mike Davoli were living their real-life love story, it was filled with so much coincidence, kismet, and serendipity that it was like the plot of a fictional romance novel. Now Anne and Mike’s story is the plot of a romance novel written by bestselling romance author Julie Leto.

“Hard to Hold” by Julie Leto tells the true story of the fairy tale romance between Anne Miller and Mike Davoli. Yes, the couple is as real as their remarkable relationship and the details that dance across the pages.
How would you respond if a whole book was written about you and the love of your life? How would it feel to share some of your most intimate moments with the whole world? What is it like to be the reality stars of a romance novel?
Here’s what Anne and Mike have to say about landing the starring roles in “Hard to Hold”…
romance novel?
ANNE:
We were both surprised, and thought maybe at first it wasn’t real. We’re certainly fond of each other, but didn’t realize how interesting our story would be to other people.
MIKE:
Seriously? Are you kidding? Those were the initial reactions. Once we realized that they were serious we started thinking about all the possibilities. Would Fabio be on the cover? Would I be on the cover? We looked at this as a fun way to share our story with others and one day our kids. It’s been a great experience.
ANNE:
One afternoon I reached for his hand in the car, and he twitched. I thought, am I ok with spending the rest of my life with a man whose hand it’s sometimes hard to hold? And then I thought – wow, did I just think in “rest of your life” terms? I guess I did…
MIKE:
While backpacking in Peru with her in December 2006. I had been sick as can be with food poisoning and she just took care of me. While sitting on the beach watching the waves roll in on the coast of Peru I knew for sure.
ANNE:
I’m not sure if my thoughts about love changed all that much. I had a really good role model in my parents’ marriage.
MIKE:
It was something that I believed in and hoped for but was not sure when and if I would find it. I had been in love before but this was something completely different.
ANNE:
I will say that having a truly supportive, caring partner has allowed me to do things, like become a freelance writer, that I didn’t have the nerve to do before.
MIKE:
It’s better than I ever expected and also more challenging then I expected. I have always had fun in my life and always had an optimistic attitude but when you have someone to share the little things with, life just takes on a much greater meaning and is more enjoyable.
ANNE:
He is neat. I am not at all. At least half of all our disagreements would be resolved if we lived in an apartment with a dishwasher and room in the bathroom for a hamper.
MIKE:
She is very messy and I like to live in a clean and neatly kept home. Besides that we are very compatible. We very much are Ying and Yang. She’s messy and I clean. She cooks and I like to bake.
to play your spouse?
ANNE:
This is a tough one. Michelle Williams? Allyson Hannigan? Leah Michelle? More because they are top-notch, really interesting actresses who aren’t afraid to play intelligent characters. For Michael, I’d say Matt Damon or Giovanni Ribisi.
MIKE:
Fred Savage (AKA Kevin Arnold) & Danica McKellar (AKA Winnie Cooper) from the Wonder Years would be great.
ANNE:
I’m not really nervous about anything that’s factual in the book. I just hope people realize that it is a fictionalized account, and that not every scene or piece of dialogue is real.
MIKE:
My biggest concern was that people would not realize that the models on the cover were not as good looking as we are in real life. Ok, so perhaps that is not exactly true. I was flirting with Anne via email a lot in the beginning while I was supposed to be working. Hopefully no one will pick up on that.
ANNE:
I don’t really watch reality TV. Maybe Top Chef.
MIKE:
Top Chef is really the only one I watch. But we both love it. It has been a regular in our relationship almost from the beginning.
ANNE:
I don’t pretend to be an expert. I feel like I just got really, really lucky, and every day keep pinching myself that I, of all people, found this amazing partner.
MIKE:
Keep your eyes and ears open. You never know when and where you are going to bump into that person you are hoping to meet, and never assume things about people. They can often surprise you.
